News Briefs
  • OM launched a weekly ten minute audio program on the internet. This new page was added on March 20 to provide weekly spiritual encouragement and insight. "Sinkina Tittk"  is the name of the page and it means "Food and Armor".  This weekly program attempts to do just as its title says - provide Spiritual Food and Armor to help strengthen the faith of believers as well as share the Gospel message with unbelievers. Once again, we want to extend our appreciation to our brother Dick Naylor of York, Pennsylvania for his time in putting the weekly audio message over the internet.  Check out the site and encourage other Ethiopians and amharic listening friends to visit the page. It is

GET INVOLVED, MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
We invite you to join your brothers and sisters in making a valuable book available to thousands of Ethiopians around the world. Brother Wogu's upcoming new book titled:

"GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT-IDENTIFICATION AND PROPER APPLICATION"

attempts to answer the questions of many the Ethiopian believers that have been confused by teachings based on experience rather than Scripture. Since we announced the publication of this book, many have responded with great excitement, because it will
help the church to refocus on the basics of Christianity by rooting believers in the word of God.   The book already received great reviews by the brothers and sisters  who are

currently working on its revisions. Many of them who are in church leadership positions have great
hope that the contents of this book will help thousands of believers in the Ethiopian church around the world.

It costs just 65 cents to print one book in Ethiopia. Fourteen believers can have access to this book without needing to copy hundreds of pages by hand - just for the price of one visit to a fast food restaurant!  In the past, believers hand-copied hundreds of
pages from brother Melese's books because they could not afford to buy one. Your contribution of US$ 65.00 enables us to produce 100 books. A gift of US$ 130.00 will print 200 books.  That is about 35 cents per day.  Imagine providing a nutritious

spiritual meal for two hundred people with such a small amount! No other investment can have such a huge
return. Five hundred Ethiopians can have this book for a contribution of $260.00.  How about making the printing of 1000 books for a contribution of $650  a project for your church or friends?

We encourage you to get involved in this worthwhile project individually or through your church missions committees, Sunday School classes, or growth groups. Let us come
together and make a difference.  Share with your friends and churches about this project.  For more information on this project, please contact us by regular mail, phone, fax or e-mail.

VIDEO EQUIPMENT DONATED
A couple from Bozeman, Montana, Will and June Johnson, donated video equipment which will enable EOM to improve the quality of its video ministry.  After hearing Misiker speak at the Missions Conference in Montana, Will was prompted by the Holy Spirit to make a difference by donating the video equipment (video editing controller, titler, Hi8 Professional video camera and recorders) that is worth over $5000.  He then shared his desire with his wife June and the night before Misiker left Montana, Will and June surprised him with the boxes of equipment. Misiker witnessed the joy of giving as Will and June excitedly loaded the boxes into Misiker's car.  Truly, miracles happen when God's children embrace obedience as a crucial part of their relationship with Him.  Not only did these children of God bless the work of EOM with the needed equipment but they became a living example of obedience in action. It is the prayer of the staff at EOM and of the friends of the ministry that God will bless the Johnson family abundantly and give them the desire of their heart. Thank you.

Let Us Live Our Best For God
Ever since I committed my life to God, it has been my desire to know Him in an intimate and personal way.  To keep my focus on the Lord I continually ask myself, 'what shall I do to please and honor Him?'

One of the most powerful ways to please and glorify God is to have a close and harmonious relationship with Him.  When we establish a closer relationship with Him, we love Him more dearly and trust Him fully.  The more we trust Him, the easier it is to do His will and serve Him faithfully. He is the one, not us, who determines where and when and how we will be used.  When He chooses to use us, we need to make the necessary adjustments in our lives. This is where most of us fail. To live our best for God and allow Him to accomplish His purposes in our lives, we need to:

(1)  Know God the best:  One of the greatest lessons that God taught me in my walk with Him is to know Him in a very personal and intimate manner. This hunger for intimacy
with God might have developed from my childhood experiences. Since my earthly father died when I was a small child, I grew up accepting God as a "father" who loves His children and caters to their daily needs.  I run to Him whenever I have physical and
spiritual needs. Through the years God has played the role of a father very successfully.  He was and still is a very caring and loving father to me.  He never failed or disappointed
me. He has always been there for me whenever I needed Him.    Since I have developed an intimate and close relationship with Him, I have come to love Him more dearly, and trust Him fully.  As a result, I experience overflowing joy and purpose in my life and ministry even in the midst of hardship and suffering. Whenever I have physical and spiritual needs, I have learned to go to Him directly and express the desire of my heart to Him with confidence.  When I talk to Him, I do not want to sound religious or attempt to impress Him with  oratorical words.  Instead, I just talk to Him in plain language, like a child who expresses his aches and pains to his loving father.  Even though I do not always get what I want, I have never doubted His unconditional love for me.  I have learned to not measure God's love by the things that I have or by good or bad things that happen to me.

    (2) Seek no human praise: It is human to enjoy the praise of others.  Someone said,  "One of the deepest drives in human nature is the desire to be appreciated."  We all like to be cherished,  and recognized for what we do the best.  Psychologists  confirm that praise serves as a positive reinforcement that makes all of us work harder and better.  The
question that I often ask myself is, how much do I need praise, especially in my effort to fulfill God's purposes in my life?  Do I deserve the credit for the good things that happen in my life?  Can I function without praise? What happens to me if I do not receive this stimulus?  Do I get discouraged?  I tell myself that those who have made the highest and
noblest contributions to God's Kingdom are not always those who are on the front lines or the most visible.  There are many who are working behind the scene, obscure in the eyes of many, and anonymous, unrecognized, uncheered, and unpraised by the world.  It
doesn't matter if we are unknown as long as God knows us. "He who sees what is done in secret, will reward them" (Mat. 6:4).

As we endeavor to honor God by selfless service to God's people, we need to be careful not to fall into the temptation of pursuing human praise and recognition. Human praise,  most of the time, is false and flattering. Since human judgment is biased and distorted, people could mislead us by giving us praise that we don't deserve. If this the case, it could harm us more than benefit us.  Someone said, "Praise is to be used like perfume--smell and enjoy it, but do not swallow it."  One time a grandmother was giving advice to her granddaughter about how to hold to a husband and said, "Feed him well, baby him a little, and praise him a lot; and it will either make him so nice you wouldn't give him up for the world, or spoil him so nobody else would want him."  Jesus has given
us a strong warning about seeking human glory and recognition. He said, "Be careful not to do your acts of righteousness before men, to be seen by them.  If you do, you will have no reward from your father in heaven" (Mat. 6:1)

     (3) Be Yourself for God: We have all been uniquely made by God.  We are not duplicates of one another. We are not factory made.  God made us one by one. We are all
given  natural ability to contribute something towards the well being of God's people. The purpose of our existence is not to make names for ourselves, but to be the best at
what God has made us to be.  We may not know how significant our contribution is. Unless we seek personal glory, I don't think it is important to know that.  Our
responsibility is to be only what God has made us to be, and do our best with what He gave us.  It helps us to know that God compares us with no one, but measures us in the light of the standard of the talent and ability that He gave us.  We may not stand out in comparison with others, but we can stand up always and do the best with what we have. He expects neither more, nor less of us.  Therefore, we need not act big, nor small.  Instead, all we need to be is ourselves.

     (4) Do the best you can: Peter said to the crippled beggar, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you" (Acts 3:6).  As born again Christians, we all have something to give to the world. There is no limit to what we can do with the help of God. God is not looking for super heroes, but little ones like you and me.  He is looking for ordinary people who are willing to do what they can do. People who touch God's heart are those ordinary people who do things out of a sincere heart. Let us not be discouraged
and despondent if our efforts do not measure up with another's. He doesn't force us to do any thing beyond our reach.  Let us invest our lives in God's Kingdom.  Whenever we invest in the Kingdom of God, we lose nothing; to the contrary, we gain a hundred fold. When our time comes to go to our eternal home, there is nothing that we will be ashamed of.  With all our heart we can say,  "I did all that I could."

God will also say to us,

          "Well done my children!"
